Peter Semiletov updates Drumlabooh to v12.0 for Linux and Windows
Sunday December 21, 2025. 08:16 PM , from KVR Audio
Peter Semiletov has updated Drumlabooh to version 12.0 featuring a major UI overhaul and enhanced randomization engine. This version brings a complete graphical interface overhaul for improved usability and clarity. Instrument slots are now color-coded to instantly indicate type (multi-layer, single-layer, or alternative samples). Drumkit loading controls have been relocated to the left panel, with options placed below the mixer, resulting in a cleaner layout and unified code for both stereo and multi-channel modes. A key engine improvement is the new controllable pseudo-random number generator with a 'Rnd seed' parameter (1 to 16777216). This ensures consistent randomization sequences for multi-layered and alternative samples within a part — making drum performances predictable and easier to mix — while allowing quick variations by changing the seed. Alternative sample kits have been fully integrated into the standard Drumlabooh XML format, enabling seamless mixing of slot types (multi-layer, Round Robin, alternatives). The flagship electronic kit has been reworked with added alternative samples. Acoustic kits have been refreshed as Sixties Basic, Sixties Rock, and Jazzkit — optimized for the new engine, with updated covers. Legacy kits remain available for backward compatibility. Additional changes include optimizations to the main audio processing loop for reduced CPU load and updated CMake build settings for easier source compilation. Drumlabooh remains free and open-source, available in VST3 and LV2 formats for Windows and Linux.
