Sampleson has announced the release of Funkastic, the company's first A.I.-powered generative plugin. Funkastic is an A.I. model trained with funky grooves. It's mainly designed to generate Clavi-style parts, but also works for electric pianos, organs or even bass lines. Unlike 'auto-composer' tools or A.I. systems that attempt to create finished tracks, Funkastic behaves more like a funk session player: it throws musical ideas at you — short, expressive one-bar grooves — and you take it from there. The goal is simple: help you spark a new song, kickstart a groove, or just have fun jamming. Funkastic allows users to choose specific musical characteristics such as Style, Mode, Root note, Feel, Notes Amount, and Velocity Strength. Every click on Generate produces a new idea, while Variate delivers alternative phrases based on the same rhythmic pattern — ideal for building multi-bar grooves that sound natural and human.
