Dystopian Waves Releases Celium – A Granular Max for Live Instrument

Monday July 28, 2025. 09:23 PM , from KVR Audio
Dystopian Waves has released Celium, a Max for Live granular instrument designed for detailed sound manipulation. It features a dual-buffer engine with Live and Freeze modes, each supporting two audio sources. Users can blend between sources using crossfading, inter-grain transitions (where a grain starts in one source and ends in another), and per-source probability. Celium supports up to 70 grains per second and grain durations up to 2 seconds. It includes per-grain effects such as distortion (4 types), ring modulation, panning, and randomized filtering. Pitch controls include ±12 semitone shift and spread, scale quantization, and per-grain modulation options like vibrato, jitter, bend, and stretch. Grain triggering is available via simple, random, or Euclidean modes. Key Features: Dual-buffer engine with Live & Freeze modes. Crossfade and inter-grain transitions between two sources. Up to 70 grains per second; grain durations up to 2 seconds. Forward, reverse, and palindrome playback. Grain envelope shaping and visual grain display. Per-grain effects: 4 distortion types, ring modulation, panning, filtering (+ Filter randomization). Pitch modulation: per grain shift/spread ±12 semitones, quantization, vibrato, jitter, bend, stretch. Triggering: simple, random, Euclidean rhythm. Zoomable parameters, automation, and LFO mapping. Pricing and Availability Celium is available at an intro price of $20 until August 31 (Regular Price: $30). Video demo Walkthrough part 1 Walkthrough part 2 Read More
