Dystopian Waves Releases Free Spectral Wobbler – Frequency-Domain Modulation with Character
Tuesday August 5, 2025. 01:55 PM , from Gearslutz
![]() Instead of shifting pitch or amplitude in the time domain, Spectral Wobble uses a Low-Frequency Oscillator (LFO) to offset frequency bins in real time. This creates smooth, continuous modulation across the spectrum by dynamically reassigning bin positions—effectively "wobbling" the frequency content. Users can focus modulation on specific frequency bands (low, mid, or high) with adjustable crossfades between them. The result ranges from subtle, analog-style motion to more pronounced spectral warping. Setting the LFO speed to zero freezes the modulation at a fixed spectral offset, functioning as a frequency shifter. This mode produces metallic, detuned characteristics that work particularly well on harsh guitars, pads, and experimental sound sources. Key Features: Frequency-domain LFO modulation Adjustable depth and rate Per-band modulation with crossfading (low, mid, high) Frequency shift mode (LFO speed = 0) Suitable for textures, ambient effects, and experimental processing Attached Thumbnails
