Vexon Audio releases Vexon Mirra - Hybrid Convolution Reverb for Simulating Real Recording Sessions
Tuesday December 30, 2025. 01:24 PM , from KVR Audio
Vexon Audio has released Mirra, a hybrid convolution reverb designed to simulate real recording sessions by combining microphone impulse responses, room impulse responses, and spatial movement within a single signal flow. Mirra is built around a dual impulse response architecture, allowing users to blend a microphone IR with a room IR in real time. This makes it possible to model microphone perspective, proximity, and distance, while placing the source inside environments ranging from small rooms and studios to clubs and large concert halls. Both factory IRs and user-loaded impulse responses are supported. Vexon Mirra is designed for producers, mix engineers, and sound designers who want more than a static reverb, it's a tool for building spaces, simulating sessions, and shaping movement with precision and musicality. Recording Session Simulation With Mirra, you can: Use dedicated microphone IRs to model different mic characters and placements. Control microphone proximity and distance, shaping tone and depth naturally. Blend microphone IRs with room IRs ranging from small rooms and studios to clubs and large concert halls. Load your own impulse responses for both microphones and rooms, extending Mirra to your personal libraries. This approach makes Mirra feel less like a traditional reverb and more like a virtual recording environment. Hybrid Reverb Engine At the core of Mirra is a hybrid engine that fuses: High-resolution convolution for realism and early reflections. An internal algorithmic reverb for smooth, musical tails and extended decay control. You can seamlessly mix the realism of captured spaces with the flexibility of algorithmic reverbs, achieving anything from subtle ambience to cinematic spatial effects. Dynamics, Tone, EQ Filters and Signal Flow Control Mirra includes a flexible signal-shaping section designed for real mixing workflows: Pre / Post Compression — control dynamics before or after the reverb engine. Input & Output gain staging for precise level matching. HPF / LPF filters with resonance to sculpt the reverb tone and focus the space. Global and per-module bypass for fast A/B comparisons. Motion & Spatial Placement An interactive XY Pad lets you reconstruct the perceived position of the sound source relative to the listener: Move the source left/right and near/far in real time. Automate motion paths inside your DAW. Recreate natural movement, depth shifts, and spatial transitions within the room. Impulse Response Capture One of Mirra's standout features is the ability to capture the entire signal flow you design: Record the full processing chain inside Mirra. Export it as a custom impulse response WAV file. Reuse that IR in Mirra or any third-party convolution reverb. This effectively turns Mirra into a space design and IR-creation tool, not just a reverb plugin. Presets & Workflow Mic and Environment sections include curated presets to quickly find a starting point. Global presets control the entire signal flow, helping you explore complex spaces efficiently. Interface Fully resizable interface with three selectable UI sizes for comfortable use in any DAW setup. Pricing & Availability Vexon Mirra is available now for Windows and macOS (VST3, AU, Standalone) for £30, including a lifetime license with free updates: macOS: AU, VST3, Standalone (Intel & Apple Silicon). Windows: VST3, Standalone. Read More
