Behringer has announced the release of the UB-1 MICRO, a monophonic analog synthesizer designed for portability. The unit is built around the 3396 and 3397 analog chip designs, which were historically utilized in the Oberheim Matrix-6 and Matrix-1000 synthesizers. The sound engine features dual digitally controlled oscillators (DCOs) capable of saw, triangle, and square waveforms, complemented by a dedicated sub-oscillator and a noise generator. For subtractive synthesis, the signal path includes a classic 24 dB/oct (4-pole) analog low-pass filter with cutoff and resonance controls. For modulation and performance, the UB-1 MICRO provides two LFOs to control filter and oscillator tuning, along with dedicated ADSR envelopes for the VCF and VCA. The device features 16 touch-sensitive capacitive keys and a built-in arpeggiator with three patterns and a hold function. Connectivity and control are managed via USB-C, which powers the unit and provides class-compliant MIDI communication. It also includes a 3.5mm MIDI IN port for external controllers and a 3.5mm headphone/line output. Users can store up to 32 presets, which are manageable via the SynthTribe application. Key Features Analog Engine: 2 DCOs, sub-oscillator, and noise generator. Filter: 24 dB/oct analog low-pass VCF. Modulation: 2 LFOs and 2 ADSR envelopes (VCF/VCA).
