HoRNet ZeroEQ: Dual-Engine Auto EQ with Harmonic Detection [VST/AU/AAX]
We've just released ZeroEQ, an automatic equalizer using a dual-engine approach: harmonic resonance detection (HarmoniQ) plus spectral balance analysis (BalanceEQ).

Core Concept:

Instead of matching to a static reference curve, ZeroEQ analyzes your specific audio using two complementary methods:

1. HarmoniQ Engine: FFT-based harmonic detection (8192-point resolution)

- Identifies fundamental frequency + overtones (up to 30 harmonics)

- Detects problematic resonances automatically

- Applies up to 10 surgical cuts only where needed

- Preserves harmonic relationships

2. BalanceEQ Engine: Spectral balance analysis

- Analyzes overall frequency distribution

- Compares to psychoacoustic reference curves

- Applies broad, transparent corrections

- Respects source material character

Both engines run simultaneously. You get surgical correction for specific resonances plus gentle tonal balancing in one pass.

Technical Implementation:

• FFT Analysis: 8192 points, real-time processing

• Frequency Range: 20 Hz – 20 kHz (analysis and processing)

• Filter Implementation: Parametric with automatic Q adjustment

• Processing: 64-bit float internal

• Latency: zero

• CPU: Optimized for low usage (tested on M1/M2/M3 native + modern x86)

Manual Controls:

Not everything needs automation. Included manual controls:

• Brightness: a tilt control that let you tune the overall tone of the audio

• V-Shape: a midrange control that allow you to adjust the presence of your sounds

• Loudness Compensation: Optional automatic gain matching

• Bypass: A/B comparison

Use Cases We've Tested:

• Removing vocal harshness/sibilance (HarmoniQ finds exact problem frequencies)

• Taming resonant acoustic instruments without losing character

• De-boxing kick drums and toms

• Full mix balancing on master bus

• Mastering polish (subtle spectral corrections)

What It Doesn't Do:

Being transparent here:

• Not a "magic button": still requires critical listening

• Won't fix fundamental recording/arrangement issues

• Not designed for creative/colored EQ (stays transparent)

• Won't match to external reference tracks (internal analysis only)

Technical Specifications:

Formats: VST3, AU, AAX

Platforms:

• macOS 10.13+ (Intel & Apple Silicon native)

• Windows 10/11 (64-bit)

Sample Rates: 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz

Bit Depth: 64-bit float internal processing

Copy Protection: none, just our standard watermark

Pricing:

€24.99 (≈$27 USD)

Fully functional trial available

Free updates included

Questions Welcome:

Happy to answer technical questions about the implementation, DSP approach, or workflow integration. Also open to feedback, this is v1.0 and we're actively collecting user input for future updates.

Cheers
