Spitfire Audio Unveils Mervyn Warren Choir
Thursday October 23, 2025. 06:01 PM , from Gearslutz
Spitfire Audio today announces the release of Mervyn Warren Choir, a new virtual instrument created in collaboration with five-time Grammy Award-winning producer and composer Mervyn Warren. This collaboration redefines the choir sample library by focusing on capturing the expressive power and unique timbre of the Black choir sound outside of a traditional gospel context. Designed for maximum versatility, Mervyn Warren Choir is built to serve modern music across all genres, from pop and R&B production to cinematic film, TV, and game scoring. Recorded at Evergreen Studios in Los Angeles with Emmy Award-winning engineer Frank Wolf, and featuring a lineup of world-class vocalists including Alvin Chea (Take 6), Stephen D. Mackay II (The Voice), and Nikki Grier (American Idol), Mervyn Warren Choir delivers an unparalleled choral experience that blends authenticity, soul, and cinematic versatility. Known for his acclaimed work on The Wedding Planner, A Walk to Remember, and A Raisin in the Sun, as well as collaborations with artists such as Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand and Hans Zimmer, Mervyn Warren brings his decades of experience across genres to create a library that is as innovative as it is inspiring. “People own many orchestral libraries, many guitar libraries – each with their own character and flavour,” Warren explains. “They should also own many choirs for the same reason. Amazing voices with such versatility – perfect for jazz, R&B, pop and film scoring” More than just a collection of voices, Mervyn Warren Choir reimagines the choir as an instrument for all forms of modern music, from pop and R&B production to film, TV and game scoring. Its focus on performance, timbre and emotional resonance makes it the definitive Black choir sample library for today’s most ambitious music makers.
