Wednesday September 17, 2025. 01:15 PM , from KVR Audio
Audio Modeling has released SWAM VariFlute, the first release in their new Discovery line. Powered by the same engine behind flagship SWAM instruments, VariFlute lets you design and play flutes, pipes, and hybrids with endless customization—tube type, material, aperture, breath noise, and more. At the same time, Audio Modeling has released updates for all other SWAM Instruments and Ambiente. SWAM VariFlute VariFlute is powered entirely by physical modeling — no samples, no loops, no playback artifacts. Just a single, unified engine that responds in real time to your musical gestures with 'realism, nuance, and soul'. What if you could hold in your hands not just one flute—but an entire universe of them? From airy recorders to haunting bansuris, shimmering panpipes to powerful bass flutes — and even fantastical instruments yet to be imagined — SWAM VariFlute puts limitless sonic possibilities at your fingertips. Say hello to the very first instrument in our brand-new Discovery Series: a playful and powerful sound engine designed for creators, dreamers, educators, producers, and sonic explorers of every kind. With VariFlute, we're unlocking the future of expressive sound — and inviting you into the ever-expanding Audio Modeling ecosystem, where advanced physical modeling meets bold musical creativity. Not a Sample Library. Not a Preset Pack. A Living, Breathing Instrument. Feature Highlights Morphable Flute Engine: Design your own instrument — from Soprano to Bass, Recorder to Pan Flute, Shakuhachi to fantasy flutes — by tweaking just a few parameters. Real-Time Control: Shape breathiness, harmonics, embouchure, resonance, and more with intuitive controls that respond like a real acoustic instrument. Culturally Boundless: Craft sounds inspired by global traditions or invent your own — no limits, no genre restrictions. Zero Samples, Infinite Expression: Everything you hear is modeled in real time. Pure, expressive sound — no static recordings or key switches. Unified Engine. Design: VariFlute is built using the same modeling excellence as our professional SWAM Flutes — just with a fresh, experimental twist.
