Penteo introduces Upmix Decorrelation Suite

New controls decorrelate Dolby Atmos without artifacts, ensuring 100% ITU downmix.

Penteo Audio Plugins, the leader in upmix / downmix audio reversioning plugins, today announced the release of the Upmix Decorrelation Suite in Penteo Pro+ version 6.2 which includes advanced upmix decorrelation and enhanced ITU downmix controls.

Penteo’s Upmix Decorrelation Suite adds controls for:

Side channel Bypass for all Stereo, Surround, Atmos and Immersive formats (save Octophonic)
Rear channel Bypass for all Stereo, Surround, Atmos and Immersive formats (save Octophonic)
Preserve or override ITU downmix control for all Stem Bypass/Passthrough modes
Left/Right Bypass and Passthrough input formats expanded to 48.
Acoustic / Precise 100% ITU bass modes – new options for better bass management.

Upmix Decorrelation Suite Controls

Penteo’s Upmix Decorrelation Suite is a set of specialized controls to enhance the spatial upmix qualities for all Stereo, Surround, Atmos and Immersive audio formats.

All new controls downmix 100% ITU to source - All Surround, Atmos and Immersive audio formats (excluding 8ch Octophonic Cube) can be used for Stem L/R Bypass/Passthrough, Side/Rear Bypass and Acoustic/Precise Bass modes. Every upmix will downmix 100% ITU to any input audio format.

The Upmix Decorrelation Suite is a free update for existing Penteo Pro+ customers in Penteo version 6.2 and adds the following controls:

Side Channel Bypass - Side Bypass removes the Lss/Rss and redistributes the soundfield between the remaining upmixed channels to enhance spatial perception, ideal for creating space between – for example, vocals and music.
Rear Channel Bypass - Decorrelate rear channels forward and keep immersive reverbs and delays or any other sounds from entering the rear channels. Rear Bypass removes the Lsr/Rsr and rebalances the soundfield between the remaining upmixed channels.
Expanded input formats for Bypass controls – L/R Bypass/Passthrough automatically removes or reincorporates the input L/R into any output audio format, redistributes the remaining soundfield between the upmixed channels. Previously limited to five input formats, Penteo v6.2 massively expands the number of input formats to 48 that can be L/R, Side or Rear bypassed.
Stem Bypass-Preserve ITU Downmix Control - 100% ITU downmix is the ultimate measure of upmix audio purity. But when creativity is the goal and downmix compatibility is not a factor, Penteo’s new Stem Bypass-Preserve ITU control for L/R Bypass/Passthrough, Side and Rear Bypass: When enabled, Penteo ensures that any signal removed from the silenced channels is reallocated elsewhere so that ITU downmix is always maintained.
When disabled, ITU downmix compatibility is overridden, the signals are removed and all downmix controls enabled for complete creative control.

Acoustic and Precise 100% ITU Downmix Bass Modes Acoustic: Ideal for orchestral music and reverbs, Acoustic bass mode is compensated resulting in a warm, full sounding 100% ITU downmix.
Precise: For pop/electronic music, Precise mode is not compensated resulting in a tighter, more defined and digitally precise 100% ITU downmix.
