Waldorf releases PPG Wave 3.V v2.0 - UI scaling, User Wavetables & Parameter Mutator

Waldorf Music has released version 2.0 of PPG Wave 3.V, a feature update to the one-and-only software reincarnation of the PPG Wave synthesizer. Honouring the pioneering work of Wolfgang Palm and pushing wavetable synthesis forward, this plugin update traces Waldorf's own origins and introduces new features for a higher user experience that continues this legacy story. The PPG Wave 3.V version 2.0 introduces three headline Microwave-inspired new capabilities: a resizable interface to fit any screen and workflow, an all-new wavetable editor that lets users create, edit, and import their own wavetables directly within the plug-in, and a built-in 'Mutator' patch randomizer to spark inspiration. Together with fresh and additional factory wavetables, these additions preserve the unmistakable PPG character and expand its creative range with the initial Waldorf Microwave spirit. 'The Prequel': where it all began With the PPG Wave 3.V version 2.0, Waldorf Music revisits its very own origin story: At a time dominated with analogue flagships, Wolfgang Palm (Palm Products GmbH) broke new ground with wavetable synthesis. This technology became reality with PPG's Wave series (1981–1987), which introduced the world's first digital wavetable synthesizers with analog filtering. Those game-changing innovations and their distinctive sound were embraced by visionary producers and artists from that time, leaving a profound mark on '80s music and beyond. After PPG ceased operations in 1987, former PPG distributor Wolfgang Düren founded Waldorf Electronics and, in 1989, introduced the Microwave, carrying the wavetable torch forward. This first generation Microwave, developed with guidance from Wolfgang Palm, established Waldorf's identity, bringing wavetable technology to the next level. ‍Years later, technology kept improving, and Waldorf Music was able to bring a software version of the PPG Wave.
