Polyend introduces MESS Multi-Effect Step Sequencer Pedal
MESS combines a powerful multi-track step sequencer with effects brimming with Polyend character – from classic modulation, delay or reverb to experimental effects never before seen in pedal form.

This is Mess

Our most ambitious pedal yet, the Mess is a multi-effect step sequencer with over 120 effects. It is a texture machine, ambient pedalboard replacement, glitch generator, or anything in between.

With four fully customizable effect tracks, craft ambient soundcapes, intricate glitch sequences or even a familiar four effect chain – all moving in sync.

4 Effect Tracks

Combine four effects for every preset to create your own unique multi-effect. No limits are placed on what effect each track contains. Run a reverb into a delay or a spectralizer into two bitcrushers and create vibrant tones, suitable for any instrument.

125 Stereo Effects

Want a specralized micro-looping effect with randomized repeats? A time-shifting chorus into a reverb that slowly gets darker over time or simply a traditional modulation, delay, and Reverb chain? With over 120 effects to assign to the four tracks, MESS opens the door to the unexpected.

Why Sequence?

MESS has the sequencer power expected from a Polyend instrument. Control per-track speed and length to create polyrhythmic or polymetric sequences or use chance options to easily create complex generative effects that never sound the same twice. Instantly add movement and musicality to any effect. Reverbs bloom, delays evolve rhythmically, and modulations shift in sync with your tempo.

Extravagant or Traditional

MESS excels at in-your-face weirdness while still covering all your pedalboard basics. Use it as an avant-garde idea generator or a straightforward pedalboard replacement, no sequencing required. Tap the play switch to kick the sequencer into motion and shift from a traditional FX chain to an evolving sequence.

Reverbs & Delays

MESS features a extensive range of stereo reverb and delay modes. Explore lush ambient spaces, tight room simulations, and modulated plates with 7 core reverb types and dozens of sub-modes. Delay options span everything from warm analog and LoFi modes to clean digital repeats. Single, multi-tap and ping-pong modes create rhythmic posibilites from subtle echoes to chaotic trails. Stack and sequence them to shape depth, space, and movement in completely new ways.

Granular & Glitch

9 versatile modes for Granular and Glitcher engines break apart, blur or fragment any signal. The granular sampler runs sound from the selected sequencer step for tightly synced granulation or infinite washes. The Glitcher engine transforms the input signal in real time into a scattered field of microsounds for instant manipulation and experimentation. Stack granular engines for massive textures, pitch shifting or unreal soundscapes.

Shapers, Drives & Filters

Shape your sound with subtle saturation to natural overdrives to complete destruction with bitcrushing and sample rate reduction. Add EQs and Filters for polish and a finalized sound. Engage the sequencer and hear the shapes transform.

Pitch Shift & Spectralize

Make anything musical with a wide range of pitch shifting options. Spectral engines warp, pitch shift and transform a large spectrum of sound. Or chose dedicated pitch-shifters with monophonic pitch tracking to re-harmonize your sound or sequence complete musical compositions from a single note.

Slicers & Microloopers

A collection of repeater algorithms can be tightly sequenced for microlooping, repitching, arpeggiation, or even tape-stop style effects. With per-step chance controls, MESS can generate randomized loops, stutters, and repeats unlike any pedal before— for spontaneous experimentation or controlled chaos.

Preorder now to be the first to receive Mess. Shipping starts in late June, supply is limited.
