1010music Announces Bento Portable Sampling Production Lab

Wednesday May 7, 2025. 05:00 PM , from KVR Audio
1010music has announced the release of Bento, described as a 'portable sampling production lab for DAWless music production and performance'. Intended as a centerpiece for desktop or mobile setups, Bento allows users to create, perform, and control external gear without a computer. Bento is everything our users have been asking for in a flagship sampler—more power, more control, and more performance tools, all in a portable package. It's designed to replace your laptop and become the brain of your setup. Aaron Higgins, founder of 1010music Bento offers advanced sampling capabilities, supporting recording and playback at 24-bit quality. It functions as a chromatic, multi-sampled instrument, a pad-based drum machine for one-shots and loops, includes an intuitive beat slicer for loop editing, and features a granular synth engine. Real-time control is provided via a 7' color touchscreen, 16 velocity and pressure-sensitive pads, and 8 endless encoders. The interface allows for triggering samples and scenes, mixing tracks, and tweaking filters and effects. For creation, editing, and performance, bento supports sequencing clips using real-time or step recording, a piano roll editor, and probability tools. It features 8 flexible tracks, each with four sequences, allowing for launching arrangements or clips on the fly. Connectivity includes three stereo inputs, three stereo outputs, a headphone out, USB-C host and device ports, and dual TRS MIDI I/O, enabling it to sequence and control other MIDI devices. It also includes an internal mixer with effects. Bento is compact and features an internal battery providing up to 3 hours of power. Features: 7' diagonal color touchscreen. 16 velocity and pressure-sensitive pads plus 8 endless encoders. 8 flexible tracks for sampled instruments, slicer, loops, granular or external MIDI. Scene-based sequencing with real time, step, piano roll and probability tools. Over 5 GB of samples and 165 patches including multi-sampled instruments and sounds from Samples from Mars, Soundtrack Loops and Drew Neumann. FX engine with per-track delay, reverb, chorus, flanger, and phaser with automation. Extensive modulation system with LFOs, envelopes, and step sequencers. 3 stereo inputs, 3 stereo outputs, headphone out, USB-C host/device, dual MIDI I/O. Internal 24-bit resampling, sample streaming from microSD. Compact and battery-powered for up to 3 hours of portable creativity.
