Sonora Cinematic Nocturne Electric Piano Released

Sonora Cinematic has announced the release of Nocturne Electric Piano, a Kontakt Player library that delivers the soulful warmth and cinematic vibe of a true vintage gem and marks the second title in the developer's affordable Select series, following the popular Emma Legato library earlier this year.

Born from a bittersweet studio experience, Nocturne preserves the soul of a beloved electric piano that tragically caught fire after a brief but inspiring life in the Sonora Cinematic studio. Determined to bring it back to life, the team found a studio with a similar model and deep-sampled it in incredible detail. The full character and vibe of that magical instrument was captured, and Nocturne Electric Piano was born.

The Instrument

In the making of Nocturne, four distinct signals were recorded offering multiple ways to shape sounds…

• DI Output – the cleanest, purest signal.

• Guitar Amp – for adding warmth and vintage colour.

• Mechanical Noise – a stereo capture of the tactile, acoustic sounds from the keys and tines.

• Tape Echo Reverb – a mono reverb captured through an old tape echo with an extra old and dirty tape cartridge in it, for that special, nostalgic vibe.

In true Select series spirit, Nocturne keeps things simple, but it does have a couple of tricks up its sleeve. A favourite is the Double Track switch – a one-click way to create a beautiful, organic stereo image by using different round robins on the left and right channels. It brings out the imperfect beauty of what is a very mechanical instrument where every note played has tiny variations.

Nocturne Electric Piano also features Sonora Cinematic’s signature atmospheric FX, tweaked specially for this piano for quick sound customisation. WHITE – a lush studio reverb, BLUE – a shimmery, diffused ambience with a huge tail, and PINK – a slowly modulated reverb with granular-like processing for a rich, textured soundscape.

A range of bus processing presets and 25 curated presets are also included so users can start creating instantly.

Sonora Cinematic Select Series

Nocturne Electric Piano marks the second title in the developer’s budget-friendly series – Sonora Cinematic Select – which kicked off earlier this year with the true legato vocal library Emma Legato. The series is designed to provide musicians and composers with a collection of no frills, affordable, easy to use and incredible-sounding Kontakt Player libraries. More titles are planned for release throughout 2025.

Nocturne Electric Piano works with the free Kontakt Player v8.1+ and is available to download now for the introductory price of £29 until 9th June 2025 (normally £39). All prices exclude VAT.
