Expressive E updates Osmose to v2.1 - 80 new analog presets, 2 new FXs and a sound engine overhaul

Wednesday April 30, 2025. 06:46 PM , from KVR Audio
Expressive E has released a free 2.1 update for their flagship MPE synth Osmose and teased further upcoming features for 2025. Standalone users will enjoy 80 analog presets + 2 new built-in FXs directly on Osmose. These additions were made possible by a simultaneous big update of Osmose's DSP & programming tools, the EaganMatrix and Editor which makes it easier to create sounds and analog timbres. Osmose's biggest DSP update, tailored for analog sounds Expressive E's avant-garde synth gets an even more diversified sound palette. Its EaganMatrix sound engine jumps to 10.52 and adds the following sound design features, which can be tweaked only through the EaganEditor computer software: A new Pulse-Width Modulation oscillator. New per-voice bit crusher, saturation, and pitch-shift effects. Completely reworked global effects algorithms, incl. a new lush, extra long reverb. A new drive mode for the existing compressor. 2 new 24dB ladder filters. On the standalone Osmose, all users can benefit from these changes through 3 new features: 80 presets with macros fine-tuned to reflect the rich & warm new analog sounds of Osmose's sound engine. A new tanh saturation in the synth tab, which can be adjusted to add subtle to very prominent saturation on any preset. A new long reverb in the synth tab, featuring a specific convolution model and longer diffusion settings. Osmose's original reverb is still accessible in the synth tab and is now named 'short reverb'. Osmose OS and editor ergonomics got even better On Osmose, presets can now be easily removed from your Osmose from the preset info screen that appears when long pressing the active preset in the navigation tab. Major bugfixes are also part of the 2.1 update. On the editor, sound programming has been made both deeper and easier: More formulas to harness your modulations. Added 84 high-resolution macros. New blend and smoothing modes. Improvement of the pitch trim. Incoming: 6 new user-friendly editors to create & modify Osmose presets. With this 2.1 update, Expressive E is laying the groundwork for the next big step to come: the release of 6 Osmose simplified editors. Instead of a single, complex editor, Expressive E is introducing a suite of specialized editors, each designed for specific types of instruments. Electric pianos, guitars, wind instruments, analog synths—each gets its own dedicated interface, unlocking a richer, more intuitive sound design experience. For each editor, Expressive E will provide you with the set of parameter controls you would typically expect. For instance, virtual analog-style sounds will feature the usual oscillator, filter, envelope, and LFO controls, electric piano sounds will let you dial in tine, reed, bell controls, the typical insert effects and so on. Simplified editors will be the more user-friendly access to harnessing the power of Osmose's modular sound engine that everybody has been waiting for. How to get, install & use the free 2.1 update The 2.1 update is available now for free on expressivee.com. Osmose users should download Osmose 2.1 from their Expressive E customer account. They should carefully read all the instructions before updating their Osmose so that everything will run smoothly. A user-friendly YouTube video also recaps all added features and update instructions. YouTube/it1kwkT29wQ YouTube/LJ5JIwTI72w Read More
