HLabs announces 5th anniversary ultra-limited series of PRE169S 2-channel mic preamplifiers
Wednesday April 30, 2025. 04:40 PM , from Gearslutz
![]() PRE169S HAUFE LIMITED EDITION, a taste of the 70s! Hearing customers who love the sound of certain vintage components, especially old audio transformers that are around 50 years old, HLabs meticulously sourced and got his hands on a batch of HAUFE transformers, a manufacturer known for having supplied Siemens, Telefunken, Neumann, among others, since the 1950s... Behind its retro-looking “Siemens Grey” front panel is a pair of Haufe RK443 vintage output transformers taken from a 70s German mixing console. Combined with the Studer 169-inspired input circuit, the result is an exceptional musicality, more colourful than the original PRE169S, with creamy lows and smooth but very detailed highs - while maintaining headroom and classic German rigour. In addition, the transformers bring a classic vibe to all your instruments through the high-impedance DI inputs on the front panel. Main characteristics: Input gain up to +65dB, also great for dynamic and low output ribbons microphones. The combination of input gain and output attenuation potentiometers allows a wide range of colours to be obtained by saturating the output transformer to a greater or lesser extent. The input PAD (-33dB) provides a line-level input, ideal for reamping for instance. Highly musical variable High Pass Filter (ranging from 20 to 315Hz). Universal power supply. Like all other HLabs products, this limited series is 100% handcrafted in France. Take a chance and add a piece of audio history to your setup with one of only five PRE169S Haufe Ltd ever made. AVAILABILITY & PRICING Currently in production, shipping est. end of May. EUR list price 1.890€ ex-VAT | USD MSRP $2399 Pre-order deposit available on HLabs website. Only 5 units available.
