Big, lush, low volume tones (à la blake mills)

I just want to have sounds like that in my bedroom without spending thousands of euros, how hard can it be (disregarding lack of skill of course)?

I'm currently using a small palmer Fab 5 watt tube amp which is attenuable to bedroom levels. I do kind of like it in that setting, but of course it's lacking in bottom end. I've also tried an extension cab with it and didn't really like it. Additionally, I can't seem to make it sound good outside of my room. Once I turn it up to half or full power it just sounds harsh and unpleasant. Then again, I'm pretty sensitive to volume and I've never liked playing loud.

I'm playing with the idea of just getting a princeton reverb, but I think it would be stupid to buy a non master volume tube amp and only use it at 2 or 3. And as a student, I'm not sure if I can justify the price. But it's also the best amp I've tried so far and according to this guy's videos it sounds nice and full, even at very low volumes. And contrary to the fender tone master amps I think you can push the front end and get some cool drive sounds as well (although that is not my primary goal).

Any other ideas?
