What console for $5000 ish is easy to maintain and reliable...?
Thursday November 7, 2024. 10:21 PM , from Gearslutz
Which consoles, in the $5000-10,000 price range, would you say are easy to maintain or repair, and are super reliable, as in they don't go down much? Any?
Other priorities are, the power supply needs to be efficient and not suck my electricity dry (home studio). The power supply also needs to be quiet as it will go in my control room. I'm no tech, and don't have one...so I need to be able to pull out individual channels (or at most groups of 4) to send out for repair when/if needed. I've heard Tofts are a nightmare to work on. What about CADAC, Calrec, Neotek, Trident 65, or even a Midas XL3??? These are at the top of my list right now I'd say but I don't know much about the maintenance part of them. Other desires: 24-48 channels max 6-8 auxes minimum 8 groups 4 band flexible eq with hpf direct outs on all channels and groups is a must spare channels/sections/power supplies available to keep around hopefully not super heavy/huge (new control room is smaller) Thanks! p.s. Recently I sold my 56 channel Crest X-VCA when I moved to my new room (which is smaller) b/c it was huge. I miss having a console. But I want something a bit more in the professional studio category that isn't going to cause me too much headache keeping it running. Mostly going to be used for mixing, but also tracking.
