RME for new Macbook Pro
Wednesday November 6, 2024. 09:27 PM , from Gearslutz
Hello!
If this post is in the wrong section, I apologize. Please feel free to move it wherever is appropriate. Over the years, I've had various audio interfaces—multiple Focusrites, a UA Apollo, and an Apogee. Eventually, they all had various issues that made me get rid of them. I actually loved the Apogee...but the model was ultimately discontinued and looked like it was heading toward compatibility issues due to lack of updates. Anyway, I'm now in the market for a new interface. I keep hearing that RME is incredibly reliable and about as future-proof as possible...with ongoing updates, etc. If that's true, then I think RME is probably going to be my choice. I'm currently looking at the RME 12mic because I want a lot of inputs for recording drums. I realize that the 12mic is just a set of preamps, meaning that an actual interface will still be required for connection to my computer. Does anybody have any recommendations? I'm thinking along the lines of the Digiface USB—something simple just for connecting the 12mic. My only question is the USB format. I just got a brand new Macbook Pro. The USB inputs are USB4. Is there an RME interface that would be appropriate for USB4? Thanks for any input or ideas. I appreciate it.
