Monitors around 3000 euro?

Hey folks,

I'm looking for some new monitors for my home studio, in the range of 3000 euro (but hoping to find some second hand for < 2k)

Anyone have any suggestions of things to try out?

It's not for mastering, just for messing around and also some editing, perhaps a master tweak in a pinch when i can't get over to the studio.

I like ATC, B&W, PMC, but that's just based on what i've used a lot, i'm open to suggestions, also hifi speakers. I think bargains are easier to find in the second hand hifi market. Speakers like pro ATCs seem to keep their value very well which is good for sellers but not buyers.

My preference is for passive as i have a nice amp spare.

I need bookshelf type speakers, not floor standers, as i don't have the room.

I'll be complementing them with a sub.
