Thunderbolt 4 and 5

Years ago, I was told to have separate drives for DAW recording and streaming VSTs on the same computer. Has this changed with today’s technology? Are the speeds and bandwidth from thunderbolt 4 (USBC) able to allow both audio recording/playback and multiple VST streaming on one drive today? Thank you in advance to those who answer my question?
