Midi Foot Switch Controller for Toggling PDF/Charts on iPad

Howdy - as the title says I'm looking for a foot switch/controller and also a compatible app to quickly move through PDF/Charts (viewing only - no audio) while playing live. Being a drummer I want this pedal/switch to be on the floor so I can step on it to move quickly to the next song.

I know there's a ton of controllers out there, but I'd like to find one works well with an existing app for this use - ideally something that I can make a hard patch to the iPad to avoid any signal issues.

In theory, it sounds like it could be as simple as a PDF/Powerpoint app that I can export everything into and move through in a way like a slide show.
