Pro Tools External vs Internal Atmos renderer?

Wednesday October 30, 2024. 12:33 AM , from Gearslutz
So far I've been continuing to use the external Dolby Renderer for my HT Atmos projects, partly because it's the way I've always done it and I'm just used to it and its workflows, and partly because I also enjoy the ease of punching in fixes into the DAMF for feature work.

I haven't really played with the Pro Tools internal renderer features yet since it was released, but I'm currently looking into it as I prep for my next Atmos (home theater) project and wondering if I should switch over or not.

Are there any compelling pros or cons against the internal vs the external renderer? Should I stick with the way I've been working since it's been working pretty well? Or are they pretty button-click interchangeable with one another.

I'm curious which ones people here use these days. And again, this is for Home Theater Atmos film and TV work (not Theatrical RMU Atmos).

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your thoughts!
