Linköping, Sweden, August 28th, 2024: Model 77 Dual Layer Synth perfectly captures the sound of three Japanese synthesizers from 1977. Perhaps the most influential of our time, the sound of these synthesizers is heard on the iconic movie soundtracks for Blade Runner and Chariots of Fire. As well as songs such as Billie Jean, Africa, Human Nature, and Wonderful Christmastime — among countless others.

Softube has component modeled and accurately articulated every detail of the circuits of these legendary instruments. The sound, interaction, and performance remain as close to the hardware units as possible while the complex interface of the original benefits from an intuitive redesign.

Softube took the time to create a more efficient user interface to ensure the plug-in is easier to navigate. Two layers are accessible directly from the front panel, but the focus stays on one layer at a time. This improvement allows the user to quickly and confidently adjust their sound.

Additionally, Softube redesigned the position of the sections to communicate the instrument's proper signal flow, thereby facilitating sound design. For example, the Ring Mod section on the interface of Model 77 Dual Layer Synth now corresponds to its location in the signal flow. The balance slider is now found between the upper and lower layers so that users can self-assuredly move between the layers while adjusting parameters for each layer.

The addition of an Aging Slider adds vintage vibes, such as oscillator drift and variations over filter cutoff, pulse width, and envelope time. This allows users to adjust between a stable modern sound and a more vintage, aged sound.

Included are the original factory presets for all three synths, heard on many classic recordings, which allow producers to swiftly interact with these famous sounds instead of reconstructing them.

These features and essential workflow enhancements – like stereo processing, DAW sync, poly aftertouch, and an integrated classic reverb – provide an authenticity that integrates seamlessly into modern productions.
