DrAlienSmith releases the SubMic
Tuesday September 3, 2024. 04:36 AM , from Gearslutz
DrAlienSmith has released the SubMic Low Frequency Microphone, a compact subkick housed in a bamboo shell which is a 2024 re-boot of our first microphone, the Subkick-01 (2017-2021).
After the speaker we were using in the Subkick-01 was discontinued 3 years ago, the search began for a replacement. It wasn't until this year that we finally found one worthy of (if not better than) the original. The SubMic features a Neutrik xlr connector on the outside, a built in mic stand mount and comes in a padded vinyl bag. The SubMic is physically compact and light but packs a big low end punch. Have a listen to the demo video below which shows how it sounds compared to the industry standard Yamaha Subkick. These types of mic add lots of low end to the kick so its best to listen with studio quality speakers or headphones. Both microphones use a 6.5 inch driver but the SubMic is a quarter of the weight, a third of the size and to our ears sounds much bigger than the Yamaha. The price is $280 AUD (approx $190 USD, €178, £150, 30100¥) plus shipping with DHL Express from Australia. For more info on the SubMic head to https://www.draliensmith.com
