Composer Tatiana Mikova’s String Quartet ‘In Modo Lidico’ debuts July 1 at Carnegie Hall

MUSEWIRE – Music News/ — Film and classical music composer, Tatiana Mikova, has announced that her String Quartet, “In Modo Lidico,” will debut at Carnegie Hall’s Progressive Musicians Laureate Gala on July 1, 2024. The piece will be performed by the Lehner String Quartet in the intimate Weill Recital Hall, home to hundreds of recitals, chamber music concerts, panel discussions, and master classes. Mikova is a multi-award-winning Czech classical and film music composer based in London.
According to Mikova, “String Quartet ‘In Modo Lidico’ is an instrumental piece that blends minimalist elements with distinct themes influenced by Moravian folklore. Following its world premiere in New York, the composition will be performed alongside works by other composers.’ “I am thrilled to present this composition to a live audience in the iconic Carnegie Hall. Music is a universal language, and I hope my work will resonate with listeners, offering them a memorable experience,” Mikova says. Mikova expressed gratitude to the Lehner String Quartet for premiering the piece during the pandemic, adding that the otherwise positive message of her work contrasted with this complex period. Since 2003, Tatiana has been involved in the film industry. After scoring short films and John Friedel’s American feature film “Treasure of Anna Hawkins,” she started working for major film productions in the Czech Republic in 2008. She created orchestral arrangements for F.A. Brabec’s feature romance “May” and the 3D feature film musical “Magical Duvet.” Tatiana collaborated with renowned film director Juraj Jakubisko on his historical drama “Bathory” (starring Anna Friel and Franco Nero) as a composer and orchestrator.
