“My Boat Anchor on Tour” | Jake Cinninger on G&L’s Fullerton Deluxe Comanche

Jake Cinninger is a man of multitudes. Born in the small Michigan town of Niles, his sonic odyssey began at just 12 years old. He wrote and performed both cover songs and original tracks across multiple bands throughout the years until finally donning the gauntlet of colead guitarist for Chicago-based Umphrey’s McGee. Over his 20-plus years with the multi-genre jam band, Cinninger has woven a sprawling sonic tapestry comprising 14 studio records, 18 live albums, 10 DVD releases, and countless performances. If there’s anything essential to Jake’s nearly one million miles, and counting, of touring, it’s his G&L-fueled array of axes. While it’s hardly his first and only guitar from the company, the G&L Fullerton Deluxe Comanche has remained, as Jake puts it, “my boat anchor on tour.” Sweetwater had the honor of hosting Jake Cinninger to show us what the Comanche can really do.
