Throughout the decades, advances in listening technologies have emerged to enhance our relationship to post-stereo sound, from the quadraphonic sounds of the 1960s and 1970s to the surround-sound formats first popularized in the 1980s. Dolby has remained at the forefront of many of these endeavors, and their state-of-the-art Atmos system brings multidimensional audio immersion to artistic experiences of every kind. At Sweetwater, we know how often the brightest and most curious musical minds among us yearn to build within the sandbox of cutting-edge sounds, so we challenged ourselves: could we build a Dolby Atmos 7.1.2 mixing setup for less than $2,000?
