Ross Guitar Pedals Return! Josh Scott on Reviving an Icon of Sound

Tuesday August 15, 2023. 06:00 AM , from Sweetwater inSync
Following a successful career in solid-state amps, Bud Ross would sell his Kustom Amplification company to Baldwin Pianos in 1972, laying the foundations for his newly designed Ross effects pedals to hit the market in 1974. The Compressor, Distortion, and Phase R1 were the first to appear, engineered with a distinct aural flavor that has garnered a cult following in the decades since, elevated to an iconic status and popular among collectors. In his ongoing quest to ensure the coolest and most interesting pedals aren’t lost to time, JHS founder Josh Scott has taken it upon himself to partner with the Ross family to reignite the company and their historic designs for a whole new generation of players. Don Carr gets into the details with Josh Scott to see how these new iterations of the lauded Distortion, Phaser, Fuzz, Chorus, and Compressor pedals hold up to their classic counterparts. Check it out!
