Tubular by Mod Sound - 15 guitar amps simulated from complete circuit schematics (BETA)

Tuesday May 31, 2022. 07:35 PM , from Gearslutz
Mod Sound is excited to announce Tubular, a new guitar amp simulator plugin that does physics-based simulation of complete circuit schematics. It currently includes 15 amp heads, 5 speakers, 5 cabinets, reverb from Velvetverb, and various other pedals and effects. Tubular is available in public beta now.

Tubular is based on Wave Digital Filters, which enable simulations to be generated directly from circuit schematics, capturing all relevant electrical behaviors of an amplifier. This approach allows many amplifiers to be modeled in full fidelity in a short time. Detailed information about the simulation approach is available here.

The amp models in the Tubular beta were selected to span many architectures - clean amps; blues and rock amps with power-section overdrive; heavier amps with preamp distortion and even diode clipping. Each amp has all the channels, switches, and knobs of its real-life counterpart. Some amps feature extra channels or switches that implement popular circuit mods.

The speaker cabinet section in Tubular is based on a novel hybrid of impulse responses and physical simulation. Speakers, cabinet enclosures, and microphones are modeled as independent impulses, allowing the user to choose any combination of these components. Variable distances and reflections add even more flexibility.

Tubular also includes several distortion pedals, modeled as circuit schematics just like the amplifiers, as well as a variety of modulation and filter effects, including reverb algorithms from Velvetverb, our standalone reverb plugin.

Tubular is designed to be straightforward to use, despite a large amount of content and a high number of controllable parameters. Every channel of every amplifier is pre-configured to be useful with its default knob settings.

Tubular is in public beta now, available at a 25% discount ($90). The full release version ($120) will add several more amps (to a total of at least 20), more speaker and cabinet models, more pedals, and greater robustness and performance. To report a bug or request a feature, please contact support@modsound.co.

A two-week free trial is available. Trials will be re-enabled when version 1.0 is released in the coming weeks.

Tubular is available as a 64-bit VST3 for Windows, and a 64-bit VST3/AU for macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon.)
