Devious Machines release Duck - the definitive "sidechain" tool
Monday May 20, 2019. 10:45 AM , from Gearslutz
Devious Machines are pleased to announce the release of our new plugin: Duck.
Duck is a useful mix utility, specifically designed for (you guessed it) ducking. Sometimes referred to as "side chaining" (owing to the fact that a side-chained compressor is often used), ducking is a popular mixing technique for making one sound quieter to make room for another (e.g ducking a bass line to make space for a kick drum). Duck implements a simple-yet-popular concept, giving you a graphical envelope to shape the volume of your sound. The envelope is either triggered at a constant repeating rate, can be activated by MIDI, or (uniquely for a plugin of this type) triggered by an external audio signal fed into the plug-in's side-chain input. We think this last feature will be especially popular for producers of broken beat music! To aid with fast and effective mix adjustments, Duck also features a 2-band split mode, which enables you to control the amount of ducking on high and loq frequencies separately, together with a user-selectable crossover point. For a limited time, Duck is available for the no-brainer price of £18 (£20 thereafter) Download the demo and find out more at https://deviousmachines.com/duck
