Announcing Bat Audio's next level 87 Replica Microphone

Sunday January 27, 2019. 10:26 AM , from Gearslutz
Greetings! For now, this will be brief.

In the spirit of NAMM, I introduce to you a new company, Bat Audio and the upcoming Bat Audio 87 Microphone (pictures below.)

Our simple objective is to significantly raise the bar in terms of sound quality for both replica and original products.

Our first offering is the Bat Audio 87 Microphone, or BAT-87 for short. The inspiration behind selecting an 87 replica as our first product comes from our long-held admiration and experience with this legendary microphone. While the BAT-87 is a truly no-compromise faithful replica of a vintage 87, it stands out sonically from similar offerings. The vintage 87 is so well-known because of its workhorse-ability to effortlessly sound beautiful on just about every source. Therefore it has been sought after by the most accomplished recording engineers.

More exciting details will be shared soon but for now the most important feature to emphasize is our K87 capsule - no other mic features our capsule. It is in a class that can only be compared to a genuine K87. It is uniquely genuine-class and the importance of this feature cannot be overstated. After testing capsules used in other 87 replicas, we have found that they are not close to the same high-level performance as ours. Our capsule uniquely achieves the same high-level of gorgeous sound, tone and timber of an original K87. We simply have not found this is other offerings. You may find it interesting that our diaphragms, the most important part of the capsule, are made on vintage sputtering machines. And our backplates are machined to acute tolerances and go further than just replicating the drilled hole-pattern from the K87 capsule.

The BAT-87 sounds uniquely gorgeous and we believe that you will be surprised with what we accomplished. We sure are!

Below is a picture of the BAT-87 and its circuit, however we blurred out the transformer since we are still dialing it in. This will be exciting as well!

We are planning to release the BAT-87 on or before March 20, 2019.

I'm happy to answer some questions.

Thanks for reading!
