THURSDAY TRACK PICK - Josh Dodes' "Sunny"
Thursday November 29, 2018. 12:41 PM , from Keyboard Magazine
After 15 years of playing, touring and recording with artists like Marc Cohn, Joshua Radin, Toby Lightman and Julian Velard, singer/songwriter Josh Dodes returns with his first new album since 2003, The Otis Darling EP. We're choosing his rollicking, piano-centric new single 'Sunny' as our THURSDAY TRACK PICK this week.'This is the first song from my new record,' Dodes tells Keyboard. 'It's a feel-good song about an ordinary guy who knows he's smart and funny enough to win over the popular girl, if he can just get her attention for a minute!'Dodes did a lot of work on his latest project using virtual instruments. 'I mostly used Native Instruments Komplete 10 suite, which I absolutely love,' he explains. 'Their vintage keys and organs are awesome, and with only a little tweaking, I was able to get them to do exactly what I wanted. I also used a small handful of patches I programmed on my trusty Roland XV-88, which has been my main board for going on 18 years!'Josh Dodes gained national acclaim for his unique brand of piano-based pop/rock as the leader of the Josh Dodes Band, which toured extensively and was featured on VH1's Emmy-nominated Bands on the Run.For more information on The Otis Darling EP, visit https://store.cdbaby.com/cd/joshdodes2
