Today we release the winning plugin from our 2018 contest, "Noize"

Monday October 22, 2018. 04:18 PM , from Gearslutz
Hi Gear Slutz.,

Today is the release of 'Noize', an adaptable noise generating plugin that responds to any sound with enveloping controls. Jamie Boyle (JNB) won the contest with his idea:

The plugin features the following highlights:

• A switch to generate noise that adapts to the volume of your track, in real time.
• Ability to solo the noise signal in order to apply additional effects like a bit crusher and flanger.
• Full control of the noise envelope by tweaking the rise and fall time.
• Five noise types: White, Brown, Violet, Pink and Blue.
• Extremely low CPU usage.

The Noize plugin is a versatile tool for subtly enriching overly clean digital sounds like basses and synths, or for adding presence and character to beats, lead-instruments and build-ups. Noize offers five distinctive noise types and uses an advanced adaptive algorithm to shape your noise of choice to the volume envelope your track, as if it were part of it in the first place. You can tweak the responsiveness of the adaptive noise with the rise and fall controls, as well as control the stereo width of the noise and apply additional high pass and low pass filtering. In addition, you can solo the noise signal, which allows you to apply other effects to just the adaptive noise. The Denise Noize plugin gives you endless possibilities to enrich and enhance your tracks with ease, while being extremely friendly on your CPU.

Use cases.

1. "You like the sound of a particular synth, virtual instrument or sample library, but it has an overly clean and digital character." Many virtual instruments and sample libraries sound overly clean because they are heavily pre-processed. The Denise Noize plugin lets you quickly add adaptive noise to these sounds making them sound more natural and easier to place in your mix. By soloing the noise, you can apply additional effects to just the adaptive noise signal, fully shaping it to your taste.

2. "You are mixing a beat or percussive element, and even though you have tried equalisation, transient shaping and compression, you feel like it is missing presence and power." If processing plugins don't seem to help to revive a beat or percussive element, this is often a sign that the source lacks these qualities altogether. You can use the Denise Noize plugin to add adaptive noise to these elements, either adding character and power, or lengthening the element's tail.

3. "You are creating a big build-up in your track to increase tension, but it sounds weak and fails to create the intended engagement with the listener." It can be difficult to create a build-up that sounds both natural, as well as powerful and engaging. With the Denise Noize plugin and automating the Rise and Fall, ad HPF and LPF features, you can create an additional layer of adaptive noise that can push your build-up to the next level.

The plugin is available in VST, VST3 and AU formats, for Mac and PC, from our website, for €19: Noize Plugin Special - denise.io

Happy producing,
The Denise team
