A decade after its introduction, Kala’s California U-Bass is getting a facelift. The solid-body, ukulele-sized bass has been updated to a “more adjustable version of the instrument that maintains its stylistic and tonal integrity.”

GV Guitars has a cool bass model called the Jules, which has a cool and funky body shape. They also built one for a customer called the Jules Black Hole, which has a killer black sparkle finish and some cool features.
mega cat is not a band I was familiar with, but I’m digging their sound. (I’m always a sucker for a band with horns.) Here’s the band performing “Rat Fight,” which took place during their visit to the studio in April 2024.
Karina Rykman is heading out on the road again this fall for a headline tour that will run from September 20th into December. The dates will be punctuated by festival appearances and support slots for My Morning Jacket.

Lao Tizer sent us this video, and while we were already excited to check it out, we saw that Anthony Crawford is a part of the band, which took it up a notch. “Down” is the first video release from the band’s upcoming album, AMPLIFY, which drops on August 23rd.
After releasing Origin Story back in April, Derek Frank is taking his show on the road. The bassist, who is also known for his work with Gwen Stefani and Shania Twain, will be leading his band in a run of dates that will focus on the West Coast.
