WWDC Keynote: Minute-by-minute, here’s what was announced

![]() If you’re an Apple fan, today is the biggest day of the year. The WWDC keynote sets the tone for the next 12 months as Apple provides a sneak peek at the next versions of every OS—iOS, macOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS, and probably a few AirPods and HomePod updates too. We’ll be covering all aspects of WWDC the whole day long, including every announcement as it happens, so be sure to keep this page open in your tab bar. And check back regularly to read up on all the new stuff. WWDC25: Live blog We’re just 20 minutes away from the keynote, so pull up a seat and follow along with us. You can also watch the keynote below. 9:40am PT: We’re waiting for Apple’s stream to start. Of note, the online Apple Store hasn’t been taken down so that likely means no hardware will be available for purchase or preorder today. 9:59am: Apple’s keynote stream is live on its site, playing “Assuming” by Queued In. 10am: The keynote stream starts with an F1 promo featuring Craig Federighi and Tim Cook. Craig says, “I’m so gald they put CarPlay in this beast.” Tim is unimpressed. 10:02am: Tim Cook welcomes everyone to WWDC and talks a bit about F1, calling it “one of the most thrilling and high-energy films I’ve ever watched.” WWDC is “an important moment to celebrate our global developer community. … “Today we’ll unveil some exciting new innovations.” 10:03am: Switches to Federighi who jumps into Apple Intelligence. Talks about the features released in iOS 18. 10:05am: We look forward to sharing more about Siri in the coming year. 10:06am: Opening up access to Apple Intelligence’s LLM. Apps can access information on device to summarize and make suggestions. 10:08am: DESIGN! Apple silicon has enabled new experiences and the stage is set for something new. Introduces Alan Dye to show off the new design. 10:09am: Broadest redesign ever. More personal with greater focus on your content. Universal across all devices. Entirely new expressive material called Liquid Glass. Refracts light, dynamically reacts to your movements. Translucent, behaves just glass. New elements, dock, widgets, customization blurs the lines between hardware and software. Apple 10:13am: New names: version 2026, iOS, watchOS, macOS, ipadOS 26 10:14am: iOS 26 time. Lock Screen is adaptive, dynamically scales the weight, width, and height of the lock screen picture. Uses transparency to keep photo visible. Apple 10:15am: Animated Apple Music album artwork on Lock Screen. 10:16am: Switching to Camera. More intuitive design. Easier to change formats, snap photos. Library tab beings back full camera roll in Photos app. 10:17am: Safari is edge-to-edge, tab bar floats above content at bottom of the screen. 10:18am: CarPlay, new iOS design extends into the car. compact design when getting a call. pinned conversations. widgets and live activities while driving to help you stay focused. 10:20am: CarPlay Ultra coming to “many more brands around the world.” 10:22pm: Phone app. New optional unified layout. Apple 10:23am: Phone app automatically detects hold music and will alert you when someone has picked up. 10:24am: Messages up next. New backgrounds, Polls, screening for unknown numbers that aren’t time sensitive 10:26am: Apple Intelligence: Combine two emoji into a single new emoji. Image Playground has new optinos including ChatGpt styles. 10:28am: Live translation translates conversations on the fly integrated into FaceTime, Messages, and Phone. translated in real time between you and caller. Other person doesn’t need an iPhone, API available for third-party apps. Apple 10:30am: Services up next. Apple Music getting lyric translation and AutoMix to swap between songs. Music pins lets you keep your favorites pinned to the top of your screen 10:32am: Maps will learn preferred routes. Visited Places will remember places you’ve been. Encypted and deletable. 10:33am: Wallet getting digital IDs for passports. Refreshed boarding passes. Find My can keep track of bags. Apple Pay getting cashback options for credit cards Apple 10:35am: Games app! Keep track of what you’ve played, download new games, challenge friends 10:38am: Visual Intelligence extends to iPhone screen, not just Camera. Shopping, events, integrated with ChatGPT for questions 10:41am: watchOS 26 next. New design. Workout Buddy Intelligence feature. Analyzes all workout data to provide insight on your fitness plan. Choose from muliple voices, provide a pep talk, key moments, stats, music, celebrate accomplishments with audio feedback like a real trainer. Personal and private. Available in English only in eight workouts. Apple 10:45am: Apple Watch will be more proactive, lower sounds when in a quiet environment. Wrist Flick feature will dismiss notifications. Live Translation, backgrounds in Messages, share location. Apple 10:49am: Notes app! New third-party controls in Control Center. 10:50am: tvOS 26. Liquid Glass design. See video under controls. Profiles for people in household. New Apple Music playlist features. 10:55am: macOS 26 Tahoe! “Where crystal clear water meet majestic mountain peaks.” New design, refined widgets, dock, icons; sidebars and toolbars reflect depth. Enhances the macOS experience. Completely transparent menubar, customizable iOS 18-style Control Center. Change folder colors, add emoji. New customization options for desktop like iOS home screen. 10:58am: Live Activities on Mac, syncs with iPhone. Phone app coming to the Mac, syncs with iPhone. 10:59am: Shortcuts with Intelligent actions. Build a shortcut using Apple Intelligence models on devices, with Private Cloud Compute, or with ChatGpt. 11:00am: Spotlight “biggest update ever.” Intelligence suggestions based on your routines. Launch apps on iPhone with built-in iPhone mirroring. Take actions in Spotlight. Quick keys. For example, “sm”,” will send a message. Clipboard history in Spotlight. 11:05am: Games app like iOS. Settings, Chat, Invites. Metal 4 beings “next-gen rendering tech” to Mac. Crimson Desert, InZOI coming to Mac. Apple 11:06am: visionOS 26. Expansive update to visionOS. Widgets become spatial, integrating into space. Clock, Calendar on wall, Weather window, Photos frame on wall, etc. Spatial scenes. “Big changes” to Personas. More realistic, share movies, games with people in the same room. 11:11am: Playstation VR controller support. Adobe app lets you edit and preview spatial videos. GoPro, Insta260, Canon native playback on Vision Pro. Developers can embed 3S objects into apps. Jupiter environment. Apple 11:15am: iPadOS 26: Portable, powerful, versatile. Continuing to push the capabilities even further. “Huge leap forward” for multasking with a new windowing system. Can use full screen apps, but can fluidly resize apps into windows. move around apps with touch or trackpad. Pointer brings up Mac-like controls when hovering. New menu bar when hovering. 11:20am: Coming to all iPads and external displays. Apple 11:20am: Files enhancements for managing, accessing, and editing files. Customize folders. Preview coming to iPad to edit and export images. 11:22am: Accelerate workflows for audio and video creators, podcasters. Capture high quality recording, use AirPods. Background Tasks can render and upload things while working in other apps. 11:25am: Craig wrapping up the new features. 11:28am: Tim Cook: “What a big day of annoucnements for our users and developers!” 11:29am: Developer beta available today, public beta next month, general release in the fall. 11:30am: Parody song made up of “real App Store reviews” 11:32am: Allen Stone done singing.
