Why the Apple TV series ‘Palm Royale’ doesn’t film in Palm Beach, Florida
Monday November 17, 2025. 10:02 PM , from Mac Daily News
The second season of “Palm Royale” returned Wednesday, November 12, 2025 with the first episode. Each episode will follow weekly until January 14, 2026. “Palm Royale” is a true underdog story that follows Maxine Dellacorte (Wiig) as she endeavors to find her footing in the cut throat world of Palm Beach high society. As Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have-nots, “Palm Royale” asks the same question that still baffles us today: “How much of yourself are you willing to sacrifice to get what someone else has?” “Palm Royale” is a testament to every outsider fighting for their chance to truly belong. In season two, Maxine is left a social pariah after a scandalous public breakdown. She’ll have to draw on her deep well of cleverness and cunning to prove, once and for all, that not only does she belong, but she just might have what it takes to rule this town. Along the way, she will uncover untold truths and finally understand what this town is truly built on… secrets, lies and the occasional felony. Kristina Webb for Palm Beach Daily News: Members of the production team, local historians and preservationists, and Palm Beachers talked with the Palm Beach Daily News about some of the locations and people who helped to inspire and inform the decisions made when building Palm Beach on the Pacific coast. “Hollywood magic is truly amazing, that they can create something that looks like Palm Beach, and it’s not in Palm Beach,” said Katie Jacob, vice president of the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach. It is famously difficult to get a permit to film in Palm Beach, particularly during season — and that’s something with which the show’s creator, Abe Sylvia, said he can sympathize. “I’m a filmmaker, but when those signs go up in my apartment building in New York City that there’s going to be shooting, I just roll my eyes. I hate it,” he said, laughing. “And trust me, I get it. I mean, we make a mess wherever we go. And I know that’s not Palm Beach’s style, so I don’t hold it against anybody that they wouldn’t necessarily want filming in their environs.” Recent permits to film along or near Worth Avenue that were approved by the Town Council limited working hours to first thing in the morning or hours outside of the peak traffic time… For TV viewers, the Palm Beach of “Palm Royale” is as good as the real thing on Florida’s Gold Coast. Eagle-eyed Palm Beachers have spotted where the truth separates from fiction. “Probably one of the funniest comments that I’ve heard about the show is, ‘We all know that’s not Palm Beach because the palm trees are too skinny,’ ” Jacob said, laughing.
