Apple said to use a combination of titanium and aluminum in foldable iPhone

![]() Analyst Jeff Pu’s new report reveals details about the eagerly awaited foldable iPhone, set for release next year. Per Pu, Apple plans to craft the device using a blend of titanium and aluminum. Chance Miller for 9to5Mac: In a new [note] to investors seen by 9to5Mac, Pu explained that iPhone 18 Fold’s metal frame will use a hybrid of titanium and aluminum. The analyst doesn’t share any additional details on the design. Ming-Chi Kuo previously reported the iPhone 18 Fold’s hinge will combine stainless steel and titanium, while the casing would exclusively use titanium. Apple’s first foldable iPhone will reportedly pack an 5.5-inch outer display paired with a 7.8-inch inner display. That puts the outer display in the screen size realm of the iPhone mini and the inner display in the ballpark of the iPad mini. According to Kuo, the device will lack support for Face ID and instead offer Touch ID as a form of biometric authentication.
