WSJ battery test: iPhone Air vs. iPhone 17 vs. iPhone 17 Pro vs. iPhone 17 Pro Max
The iPhone 17 lineup has arrived, bringing with it the highly anticipated iPhone 17 Air — a superthin marvel that’s turning heads with its sleek design and innovative features. As Apple continues to push the boundaries of smartphone technology, the iPhone 17 series offers a range of models catering to different preferences, from the powerful iPhone 17 Pro to the budget-friendly standard iPhone 17. A new Wall Street Journal article dives into a detailed comparison of the ultra-slim iPhone 17 Air against the rest of the iPhone 17 lineup, exploring their design, performance, battery life, and other unique selling points to help you decide which model reigns supreme in Apple’s latest flagship family.
Nicole Nguyen for The Wall Street Journal:

Over the past week, I re-created my daily routine from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on a mix of 5G and Wi-Fi. Here’s what was left in the tank at bedtime:
• iPhone Air: 19%
• iPhone 17: 27%
• iPhone 17 Pro: 30%
• iPhone 17 Pro Max: 54%
Although the iPhone Air’s battery depleted the quickest, it wasn’t the letdown I had feared. Meanwhile, the 17 Pro Max could have kept on going for another day…
The Pros are premium. You get better battery life and that extra zoom. The photos are noticeably nicer, and there are true “pro” features, such as faster media transfers.
I never understood the Max until I tested this one. You never have to worry about the battery draining. The 6.9-inch screen—Apple’s biggest—is so nice to look at. I just keep coming up with reasons to pick it up, even though it still doesn’t fit in my hand.

MacDailyNews Take: For us, the Pro Max was been the unanimous choice since it debuted on September 20, 2019 with the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
