Reliable leaker confirms three new Apple Watch models and M5 iPad Pro coming soon
Macworld

Apple’s special event is tomorrow, and we’ll finally see the official unveiling of products like the iPhone 17. Even so, there are still last-minute rumors floating around the web, and they corroborate what to expect from the company this fall.

According to information seen by Macworld shared by an anonymous and reliable leaker with a private account on X, Apple will indeed introduce three new Apple Watch models tomorrow:

Apple Watch Series 11 (Wi-Fi and Cellular versions)

Apple Watch Ultra 3 (Wi-Fi + Cellular)

Apple Watch SE 3 (Wi-Fi and Cellular versions)

While it’s obvious that we’ll see a new Apple Watch Series 11 on Tuesday, it’s been several years since Apple last updated both the Apple Watch Ultra and the Apple Watch SE. According to the leaker, all the new models are based on the same CPU as the Apple Watch Series 9 and Series 10, though we expect Apple to rebrand it as the S11.

The report aligns with leaked internal Apple code seen by Macworld last month.

The leaker didn’t provide any more details about other specifications, but rumors suggest that all new Apple Watch models won’t look dramatically different from the current versions. Users can expect small improvements such as more efficient Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, 5G, and brighter displays.

A new iPad Pro is also on the way

The same leaker also revealed that there’s a new iPad Pro coming soon, and it will be powered by the yet-to-be-announced M5 chip. The codenames for the new iPads are J817, J818, J820, and J821 for Wi-Fi and Cellular versions in 11-inch and 13-inch options.

Although Apple may launch a new iPad Pro this fall, don’t expect to see it on Tuesday alongside the new iPhones. Apple usually introduces new iPads at a separate event. According to Bloomberg, the new iPads could be announced in October alongside new Macs. However, last year, Apple debuted the M4 chip in the iPad Pro months before announcing the first Macs with M4, so the new iPad could arrive on its own ahead of the new Macs.

It’s worth noting that the anonymous leaker has a solid track record when it comes to revealing hardware and software updates that are due to be released in the near future.

The “Awe Dropping” iPhone 17 event will take place on Tuesday, September 9, at 10 a.m. PDT. Macworld will have full coverage of all the announcements in real time on our live blog.
