President Trump signs executive order cementing trade agreement with Japan

![]() On Thursday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order enacting his trade agreement with Japan, setting a maximum 15% tariff on most U.S. products, including automobiles and parts. Josh Wingrove and Hadriana Lowenkron for Bloomberg News: The deal was reached in July, but had yet to be formalized as Washington and Tokyo haggled over its terms… The provisions of the agreement apply retroactively to any products shipped starting Aug. 7, the date which the US president’s tariffs on dozens of trading partners took effect. Japan in July agreed to create a $550 billion fund to make investments in the US, though the details have yet to be announced.
