Apple might shift the logo lower on the iPhone 17 Pro so we know where to charge

Apple is expected to introduce noticeable changes to the iPhone this fall, especially with the Pro models. For the first time, the camera won’t be confined to a square in the upper-left corner but will now stretch across the entire back of the device with the flash at the far right.

For a company obsessed with symmetry and balance, that change will force another adjustment that’s both visual and practical. According to leaker Majin Bu, Apple will reposition the Apple logo that’s long been centered on the back of the iPhone, about an inch lower on the back of the Pro models.

The reason for the change is twofold. For one, it would center the Apple logo visually below the camera bar. Apple cares as much about optical alignment as it does physical alignment, and the camera bar creates an obvious visual layer. Moving the Apple logo allows the camera bar to stand out even more while still giving the Apple logo attention.

It also gives a proper target for the MagSafe charger. Ever since Apple’s magnetic charging system launched with the iPhone 12, the Apple logo has served as a friendly reminder of where the puck should go. Since the iPhone 17 Pro’s camera bar will push that target lower, the Apple logo will still be a visual indicator of where it needs to go.

Since the iPhone 17 Air has a much thinner camera bar and the iPhone 17 doesn’t have one at all, Apple will likely keep its logo in the same spot as before.

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 17 at an event in September.
