Apple donates to Myanmar-Thailand earthquake relief efforts
Apple CEO Tim Cook posted on X.com, revealing that the company will contribute donations to support relief efforts in the wake of a 7.7 magnitude earthquake impacting Myanmar and Thailand.
A devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar on March 28, 2025, causing widespread destruction across Myanmar and Thailand. As of March 31, 2025, the death toll in Myanmar has surpassed 1,700, according to the country’s military government, with over 3,400 injured and more than 300 still missing. In Thailand, at least 18 people have been confirmed dead, including 11 killed when a high-rise building under construction collapsed in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district.

Our hearts go out to all those in Myanmar and Thailand affected by the devastating earthquake. Apple is donating to support relief efforts on the ground.

MacDailyNews Note: The U.S. Geological Survey estimates that Myanmar’s death toll could climb above 10,000 as rescue efforts continue amid damaged infrastructure and ongoing aftershocks. Relief operations are underway, with international aid arriving from countries like India and China, though Myanmar’s civil war and the junta’s restrictions complicate access to the hardest-hit areas, such as Mandalay and Sagaing.
