Apple’s U.S. Mac sales up strongly with 25.9% YoY growth in Q424

Canalys, now part of Omdia, data shows PC shipments (excluding tablets) to the United States grew 6% year on year to 17.7 million units in Q4 2024, driven by strong performance in the commercial segment, with Apple’s U.S. Mac sales up posting 25.9% YoY growth in Q424. Total PC shipments to the US are expected to fall just shy of 2% growth in both 2025 and 2026 with volumes hovering between 70 to 72 million units each year.
The commercial segment was the strongest-performing segment in the second half of 2024, driven heavily by Windows 10 end-of-service demand. As Microsoft increases its efforts to boost awareness around the October 2025 deadline, businesses are stepping up investments in PC fleet refreshes. This trend is set to continue throughout this year and even into 2026, given the scale of older Windows 10 devices that remain present in the installed base.
Q4 2024 saw Apple eclipse Lenovo for the third overall spot in vendor rankings, achieving this position for the first time since Q3 2022. “Apple enjoyed 26% annual growth for Mac shipments to the US, breaking the 3-million-unit mark in Q4,” said Davis. “The Windows refresh cycle provides fertile ground for Apple to target both consumers and businesses that may be open to switching operating systems. Historically, manageability and compatibility issues were highlighted as reasons for larger commercial customers to eschew Apple products. However, many of those issues have been addressed by Apple, and along with more competitive pricing and a revamp of its channel partner program later this year, 2025 is set to see Mac make market share gains within the commercial segment.”
