Pedro Pascal stars in new Apple AirPods short film directed by Spike Jonze

Apple has once more enlisted a Hollywood heavyweight to promote its products — this time tapping Pedro Pascal, who plays a heartbroken character rediscovering his rhythm through the company’s noise-cancelling earbuds.
The new ad, a five-and-a-half-minute short film titled Someday, is helmed by acclaimed director Spike Jonze (Her, Being John Malkovich). It follows Pascal’s character on an emotional odyssey of healing after a breakup. When he activates the Active Noise Cancellation on his AirPods 4, his muted, wintry reality bursts into a vivid, dreamlike world: The bleak tones give way to a kaleidoscope of color, and the people around him sync into a musical reverie.
In one striking moment, Pascal’s character, immersed in his earbuds’ soundscape, experiences an out-of-body vision—seeing a freer, joyful version of himself. As he toggles between the somber haze of heartache and the buoyant glow of renewal, his outlook shifts, culminating in his participation in spontaneous flash-mob dances across a vibrant cityscape awash with cascading flower petals. The choreography, crafted by Tanisha Scott — known for her work with Rihanna, Drake, and Beyoncé — pairs Pascal with a troupe of backup dancers to bring the scenes to life.

The film’s soundtrack opens with the melancholic strains of Guitarricadelafuente’s Conticinio, then shifts to the upbeat pulse of Sam i’s “Perfect” (featuring Tropkillaz, Bia, and MC Pikachu), with its infectious hook, “You’re perfect / Now work it.”
