ITV acquires Apple TV+ drama ‘Suspicion’
Wednesday March 5, 2025. 09:04 PM , from Mac Daily News
![]() ITV has secured the rights to Apple TV+’s thriller series Suspicion for its streaming service ITVX, marking what is believed to be the first instance of a UK broadcaster or platform acquiring a show originally produced for a U.S. streaming service. When the son of a prominent American businesswoman (Uma Thurman) is kidnapped from a New York hotel, the eye of suspicion quickly falls on four seemingly ordinary British citizens who were at the hotel on the night in question. As they find themselves in a trans-Atlantic cat and mouse race to evade the combined forces of the National Crime Agency and the FBI to prove their innocence, it becomes apparent that not everyone can be trusted. Who is really behind the mysterious abduction, and who is only guilty of being in the wrong place at the wrong time? Heather Fallon for Broadcast: ITV has acquired the series via distributor Fifth Season, which handles international sales, in a free-to-air second window. The thriller had originally hit the sales market in 2023 under Keshet International, where it was shopping linear rights for the series. Apple TV+ had commissioned Keshet UK to produce Suspicion, which is based on the Israeli series False Flag, which also launched on the service. Keshet International held the linear and format rights for the series. The sale of the drama is a rare instance of an Apple TV+ original being sold on the open market and thought to be the first time a UK broadcaster has acquired one of its commissioned shows. MacDailyNews Note: In its review of “Suspicion,” The Hollywood Reporter called the series “about as forgettable as they come,” which, in our case is definitely true; we’d forgotten about it until just now. Enjoy, ITV viewers!
