Apple’s M4 Mac mini sports all-new thermal design for maximum performance
Wednesday October 30, 2024. 03:52 PM , from Mac Daily News
Apple has unveiled a significantly redesigned Mac mini, featuring a compact form factor that’s over two inches smaller than its predecessor. Despite its reduced size, the new Mac mini boasts Apple’s powerful M-series chips, including the latest M4 Pro. Left: Mac mini (2023): 7.75 by 7.75 inches. Right: Mac mini (2024): 5 by 5 inches To accommodate the smaller form factor and increased performance, Apple has implemented a new thermal architecture that efficiently dissipates heat. Apple says that air is guided to each level of the system, and that combined with the power efficiency of the M4 chips, the Mac mini can “breeze through intensive workloads at outrageous speeds.” The M4 Pro hasn’t been benchmarked yet, but it has a 14-core CPU and up to a 20-core GPU, which is up to twice as powerful as the M4 GPU.
