Apple TV+ limited series ‘Disclaimer’ makes world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival

Friday night at the Palazzo del Cinema, Apple’s highly anticipated limited series “Disclaimer” made its world premiere as an official selection of the 81st Venice Film Festival. Created and directed by five-time Academy Award winner Alfonso Cuarón and starring Academy Award winners Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline, the two-night premiere event will feature the first four episodes of the series debuting at the festival on night one, with the final three episodes premiering the following evening. “Disclaimer” will debut globally on Friday, October 11, 2024, with two episodes, followed by new episodes every Friday through November 15, 2024.

The star-studded red carpet premiere was attended by Academy Award winners Alfonso Cuarón, Cate Blanchett, and Kevin Kline, along with series stars Sacha Baron Cohen, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Louis Partridge, Leila George and Hoyeon. The cast was also joined at the festival by executive producers Gabriela Rodriguez and Carlos Morales, director of photography Bruno Delbonnel, series editor Adam Gough and book author Renée Knight.

“Disclaimer” is a gripping psychological thriller told in seven chapters, starring Academy Award winners Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline. Written and directed by five-time Academy Award winner Alfonso Cuarón, “Disclaimer” is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Renée Knight. Acclaimed journalist Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett) built her reputation revealing the misdeeds and transgressions of others. When she receives a novel from an unknown author, she is horrified to realize she is now the main character in a story that exposes her darkest secrets.

As Catherine races to uncover the writer’s true identity, she is forced to confront her past before it destroys her life and her relationships with her husband Robert (Sacha Baron Cohen) and son Nicholas (Kodi Smit-McPhee). The ensemble cast includes Kline, Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Leila George, Hoyeon, and features Indira Varma as the narrator.
“Disclaimer” is co-produced by Esperanto Filmoj and Anonymous Content. Cuarón serves as executive producer alongside Esperanto Filmoj’s Gabriela Rodriguez and Anonymous Content’s David Levine and the late Steve Golin. Blanchett executive produces and Knight serves as co-executive producer. Academy Award winner Emmanuel Lubezki (“Gravity,” “Birdman,” “The Revenant”) and Academy Award nominee Bruno Delbonnel (“The Tragedy of Macbeth,” “Inside Llewyn Davis,” “Darkest Hour”) serve as directors of photography. Lubezki, Donald Sabourin and Carlos Morales are also executive producers. The score is composed by multiple Academy and Grammy Award winner Finneas O’Connell (“Barbie,” “No Time to Die”).
