In reply to primrose. Hi Primrose – Totally agree with your comments. Replying to you for all to see, since Jeff no longer works at MacObserver. – One thing I found out after finding this lifesaver article – Best bet is to turn off WiFi before re-launching Notes to force it to use local database, not iCloud Notes backup. First time I tried, my old notes database opened, but was immediately overwritten with latest iCloud data (re-deleting the note I lost!). After I restored database a second time from Time Machine, I turned off WiFi before opening Notes, App opened using old database from HD, and I exported my lost note as PDF quickly, just in case. But when I turned WiFi back on after, note remained as Time Machine copied it. Whew!
