Spotify jacks up prices of its premium plans in the U.S
Monday June 3, 2024. 10:00 PM , from Mac Daily News
Spotify jacked up prices for its premium plans in the United States on Monday, the latest step by the Swedish music-streaming service in its push to increase margins for a service that doesn’t even offer lossless audio or Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos like Apple Music.
Reuters: The company raised prices of its individual plan to $11.99 from $10.99 per month, duo plan to $16.99 from $14.99 and its family plan to $19.99 from $16.99… Spotify has been trying to boost its margins in recent months by lowering marketing spending and through layoffs, after relying on promotions and hefty investments to drive user growth. The company offers an advertising-supported free service with limited features and a subscription-based paid service that gives access to all its functionality, with premium subscribers accounting for most of its revenue. Apple Music costs $5.99/mo. for students, $10.99/mo. for individuals and $16.99/mo. for families. The Apple Music Individual Plan and the Apple Music Family Plan are also included in Apple One, which bundles up to five other Apple services into a single monthly subscription. Apple One plans start at $19.95 per month. Please help support MacDailyNews. Click or tap here to support our independent tech blog. Thank you!
